Description:
1860-S Eagle Rarity
1860-S $10 --Cleaned--ANACS. XF Details, Net VF 20. Four obverse dies arrived in San Francisco for the production of 1860-S eagles. Some, if not all of these dies were combined with two holdover reverses to produce a scant 5,000 pieces. In a series replete with scarce dates, this S-mint delivery ranks near the top of the list in terms of both overall and high-grade rarity. A not unattractive coin, the honey-gold surfaces are minimally abraded, yet moderately hairlined. The wear is light and evenly distributed, but the devices retain ample striking definition. (NGC ID# 2646, PCGS# 8632)
