Borderline Uncirculated 1862 Eagle1862 $10 AU58 NGC. A well struck near-Mint Eagle with a refreshingly unabraded obverse and lovely light sunrise-gold patina. A miniscule speck of struck-in grease near 1 o'clock on the obverse rim identifies this exemplary example. Only 10,960 pieces were struck, only a distant echo of the more than 1.3 million Gold Dollars produced by the Philadelphia Mint in 1862. Population: 9 in 58, 3 finer (7/04).(#8635) (Registry values: N2998) (NGC ID# 2649, PCGS# 8635)
