Description:
1867-S VF 25 PCGS. An extremely rare With Motto ten whose mintage of only 9,000 pieces goes a long way toward explaining the rarity of this issue. It is such a dramatic condition rarity that when Akers compiled and wrote his book on the ten-dollar series, he made the statement that he had never seen a '67-S that graded full XF. He ranked it as the sixth rarest issue in the entire series by frequency of appearance in public auctions. This example is evenly worn and even as a VF, shows traces of mint luster around the devices. A total of only 21 pieces have been graded by PCGS and NGC combined for all grades (1/96). (NGC ID# 264M, PCGS# 8652)
