Description:
1869-S $10 AU55 NGC. Formerly offered as lot 8264 in our 2002 FUN Sale, where it was described as, "The '69-S is an elusive With Motto Ten at all grade levels. Only 6,430 pieces were struck even though the Philadelphia Mint shipped six obverse and two reverse dies west in October of 1868. The surfaces of this piece are free from any large or distracting blemishes, with a few small marks that become apparent once the coin is viewed with a magnifier. Sharply struck in the centers, the peripheral stars show some weakness, as usual." Trends $14,000. (NGC ID# 264S, PCGS# 8656)
