Description:
Important AU50 1871-CC Ten Dollar
Four-Figure Mintage, Few Surviving
1871-CC $10 AU50 NGC. Variety 1-A. The date is farther to the right relative to the bust on the 1-A variety compared to its 2-A counterpart, and the 1-A lacks the die scratch found on the 2-A. Like its 1870-CC predecessor, the 1871-CC eagle is an important date from early in the Carson City Mint's history, with a four-figure mintage and survival rates that make it very scarce at any grade level and even midrange coins condition rarities. This example is pale yellow-gold, radiant overall with tiny pools of reflectivity clinging to the fields around the stars and similar devices. Softly struck on the highest parts of the design with a die flaw and copper spot just under the left (facing) wing of the eagle. Census: 8 in 50, 25 finer (11/11).(Registry values: N7079) (NGC ID# 264X, PCGS# 8661)
