Description:
Challenging Choice XF 1873-CC Eagle
1873-CC $10 XF45 PCGS. Although the 1870-CC is the best known Carson City rarity of the Eagle denomination, all other CC-mint issues from the 1870s are very rare, except for the 1874-CC, which is merely rare. The 1873-CC had a slender production of 4,543 pieces, less than that of the 1870-CC, and the issue is unknown in grades above AU55. The present piece has bright and glossy yellow-gold surfaces. The strike is good if not quite sharp, and remaining luster is extensive for the grade. The fields are moderately abraded, however, no marks require individual mention. A significant opportunity for the Carson City specialist. Population: 10 in 45, 9 finer (6/05).(#8667)(Registry values: N4719) (NGC ID# 2655, PCGS# 8667)
