Description:
Rare, High Grade 1879-CC Ten Dollar
1879-CC $10 XF45 PCGS. Variety 1-A. The '79-CC Ten Dollar has an impressively low mintage of only 1,762 pieces, the lowest output of any gold coin ever produced in the Carson City Mint. Of that tiny number, it is believed that a mere 40-50 pieces are extant today in all grades, making it the second rarest Eagle behind only the extremely rare 1870-CC. This bright, well balanced example has the expected quota of light to medium sized abrasions on each side. Population: 3 in 45, 12 finer (8/05).(#8684) (Registry values: N4719) (NGC ID# 265N, PCGS# 8684)

The marketing was exceptional from the photos to the ads in Civil War Times and North South Trader for the cross over people!!! I have had many emails from my Civil War collecting fraternity that saw these and I saw them at the national show in Nashville/Franklin in early December.
