Lovely and Desirable 1884-CC Eagle AU551884-CC $10 AU55 NGC. This coin's obverse boasts an unusual but pretty two-toned appearance, with generous daubs of hazel-gray in the fields, while the peripheries are a more traditional copper-gold. The reverse is moderately prooflike. Beyond the aesthetic considerations, which in the case of this coin are considerable, this issue is seldom found in any grade, and the present specimen must rank highly in the surviving population. The strike is boldly executed--extremely unusual for the issue--and even under magnification, few marks of any consequence are seen, again surprisingly so. The chisel marks on the obverse are diagnostic. Both lovely and rare.
