Description:
1840 $5 Broad Mill Genuine PCGS. The PCGS number ending in .98 indicates Surface Damage as the reason, or perhaps one of the reasons, that PCGS deemed this coin not gradable. In our opinion, this coin has the details of an AU specimen that has been damaged. A cluster of short but deep pinscratches is noted on the field above the eagle's right (facing) wing. A few specks of PVC residue are noted on the D in UNITED and near the obverse rim at 6 o'clock. The borders display noticeable luster.(Registry values: P5, N5) (NGC ID# 25SA, PCGS# 8194)
