1848-D $5 XF40 NGC. Variety 18-M. Reverse with die crack through arrowheads and the A in STATES as well. Softly struck but still luminous with orange elements gracing moderately abraded sun-gold surfaces. A solid introductory Dahlonega half eagle. Census: 5 in 40, 93 finer (3/11).(Registry values: P3) (NGC ID# 25TU, PCGS# 8238)
