Description:
1866-S $5 No Motto VF25 NGC. Ex: Eliasberg. Last of the No Motto fives, and limited to a tiny mintage of 9,000 pieces. Rarer (and lower mintage) than its famous double eagle counterpart, and priced much more affordably as well. The eagle's wings have pleasing definition, and the only noticeable marks are those to the right of the eagle's neck. Census: 7 in 25, 35 finer (12/08).
Ex: Louis E. Eliasberg Collection (Bowers and Ruddy, 10/1982), lot 512.(Registry values: P8) (NGC ID# 25VY, PCGS# 8300)
