Key Date 1870-CC Liberty Half Eagle in Fine1870-CC $5 Fine 15 PCGS. Variety 1-A, the only known dies. One of perhaps 50-60 examples believed extant from this historically significant Half Eagle delivery (this estimate per Winter and Halperin, 2002), this coin is relatively pleasing for the Fine grade level. The wear, while extensive, is evenly distributed, and all major design elements are readily discernible. There is a moderate distraction on Liberty's cheek, but all other abrasions are well within the context of the assigned grade level. One of several opportunities to acquire a '70-CC Five in this sale.
