Description:
1870-CC $5 Good 6 PCGS. The obverse has a few reeding marks and the tops of UNITED is worn into the rim, but a portion of the eagle's plumage is visible despite the substantial wear. A famous rarity within the Half Eagle series, only 7,675 pieces were struck, and PCGS has certified just 54 pieces in all grades.
Ex: Greater New York Sale (Paramount, 4/77), lot 85.
