Collectible 1870-CC Half Eagle1870-CC $5 VG10 PCGS. The first Half Eagle issue from the fledgling Carson City Mint, and also the rarest, although the 1878-CC is nearly as difficult. Only 7,675 pieces were struck, and these circulated for years with no regard given to their numismatic importance. This deep golden-brown example has some remaining definition on the left (facing) wing. The legends are clear, although the tops of UNITED and AMERICA have faded into the rim. A few faint marks, but nothing of relevance for the grade. An affordable representative of this famous Carson City rarity.
