Description:
Attractive 1874-CC Half Eagle AU55
1874-CC $5 AU55 PCGS. The 1874-CC has the highest mintage (still only 21,198 pieces) and is one of the least challenging of the Carson City Half Eagles from the 1870s. However, the relatively small quantity of survivors are almost all well circulated, and legitimate AU pieces can be rightly categorized as extremely scarce. This outstanding example is particularly nice for the assigned grade, being clean and frosty beneath an attractive reddish tint. The peripheral striking details are sharp, but there is some softness in the centers that is quite normal for the issue. Population: 5 in 55, 6 finer (5/02). (NGC ID# 25WP, PCGS# 8334)
