Description:
1842-D $2 1/2 Genuine PCGS. Variety 3-F. The PCGS number ending in .98 suggests Damage as the reason, or perhaps one of the reasons, that PCGS deemed this coin not gradable. In our opinion, this coin has the details of an XF specimen that has surface damage. A faintly hairlined tan-gold Dahlonega quarter eagle with several tiny pits on each side and a pinscratch across the eagle's neck to the base of the left (facing) wing. A scant 4,643 pieces were struck.(Registry values: P2, N2) (NGC ID# 25GJ, PCGS# 7725)
