Description:
Brilliant Mint State 1850-D Quarter Eagle
1850-D $2 1/2 MS60 NGC. Variety 13-M. (per Doug Winter's second edition and revised attribution system). The only variety struck this year. Just 20 Mint State examples of this issue have been certified by both PCGS and NGC combined, and there is little doubt that a considerable number of those represent resubmissions. Although this date is perhaps the single most common Dahlonega Quarter Eagle struck during the decade, only a few truly Mint State examples are known. This example is struck in brilliant greenish-gold, and has exceptional surfaces for the grade. Only a few small dents and grazes are noted, including one in the right obverse field and two in the right reverse field.(#7757) (Registry values: P2) (NGC ID# 25HJ, PCGS# 7757)
