Description:
Striking 1878 7/8 Tailfeathers Strong Dollar, MS66
1878 7/8TF $1 Strong MS66 PCGS. A Top 100 Variety. The doubling on the reverse is strongly reminiscent of an intermediate state between VAM-41 and VAM-41A, with substantial polishing-down evident in the upper parts of the main tailfeathers and at the undertype but not to the extent visible on the VAM-41A. Regardless of the eventual attribution, a remarkable example of the Strong 7/8TF category, shining with subtle gold and pink elements over parts of each side. Crisply detailed central devices are virtually impeccable. For all 1878 7/8TF Strong varieties, Population: 5 in 66, 0 finer (11/08).
