Radiant MS66 1878 7/8TF Weak Dollar
1878 7/8TF $1 Weak MS66 PCGS. VAM-33. In reality, there are four tail feathers that protrude slightly from beneath the seven "over-tail feathers." Radiant cartwheel luster emanates from this untoned, gorgeous silver-white beauty. Although not a Top 100 variety, this is nonetheless an elusive issue in top Mint State grades. PCGS has certified only eight coins in MS66, with none finer (2/07). The Van Allen-Mallis reference directs attention to the eagle's legs, which are "one and a half times normal width, with talons doubled (doubled set of claws)," and notes that the faint tail feather under the sixth tail feather (counting from right to left; second counting from left to right) occurs on early-strike specimens.
