Description

Important MS61 1889-CC Dollar

1889-CC $1 MS61 NGC. The 1889-CC dollar was not so well-represented as its earlier peers in the Treasury holdings and GSA auctions, and coupled with a naturally low mintage of 350,000 pieces, this has resulted in a supply that is inadequate to current demand, particularly in the various Mint State grades. This is an impressively lustrous MS61 survivor that has a particularly prominent cartwheel effect on the reverse. Both sides have above-average definition and traces of golden peripheral toning that frame pale silver centers. Numerous wispy abrasions and a few more serious marks, such as a cut on the truncation on the bust, combine to account for the grade.(Registry values: P9, N4719)
