1836 P2C Two Cents, Judd-53, Pollock-54, R.6, Fine 15 PCGS. A rare early pattern, and the first pattern Two Cent piece. The obverse has a small eagle that stands on a cloud, with the date below and UNITED STATES OF AMERICA at the borders. The reverse has the denomination widely spaced within a peripheral laurel wreath. Struck in billon (90% copper, 10% silver) with a reeded edge. The T in TWO has been repunched at the base. A darkly toned example that has a smooth breast but sharp wing feathers. There is a bright scrape above the C in AMERICA, and a faded pinscratch near T in TWO. Population: 1 in 15, 9 finer (3/02).
