Description

Intriguing Pattern 1850 Annular Cent, PR64

1850 P1C One Cent, Judd-119 Original, Pollock-134, R.6, PR64 NGC. The obverse displays the inscriptions USA and ONE TENTH SILVER around a perforated center. The central reverse is also perforated with the denomination CENT at the top, the date 1850 at the bottom, and two rosettes at the sides. Struck in billon (10% silver, 90% copper) with a plain edge. The obverse was struck from a shattered die, as were most extant representatives of this scarce pattern. An unquestionably original example, both sides display mottled reddish-tan and olive patina. There are remarkably few distractions for the grade. (PCGS# 11511)

The marketing was exceptional from the photos to the ads in Civil War Times and North South Trader for the cross over people!!! I have had many emails from my Civil War collecting fraternity that saw these and I saw them at the national show in Nashville/Franklin in early December.
