Design. The Small Flying Eagle obverse of 1858 is combined with the Oak Wreath With Shield reverse. Struck in copper-nickel with a plain edge.
Commentary. Another R.5 1858 Flying Eagle cent pattern; like some others of the year, this design also saw some copper strikes, but they are rated R.8, with only a tiny handful of survivors known.
Physical Description. The pretty golden-tan surfaces on this conservatively graded piece show a few minor, undistracting flecks along with a bold strike and lots of eye appeal. NGC Census: 8 in PR63, 17 finer. PCGS Population: 19 in PR63, 29 finer. (12/08).
