It is popular as a transitional issue and was sold by the Mint as a part of a 12-piece set. Examples were struck from two obverse and two reverse dies. This particular pattern has a centered date with clusters of five leaves on the reverse. Struck in either copper or bronze with a plain edge. The surfaces display rich red mint color with deeper charcoal accents around the margins. Fully struck. This is a rarely offered variant of an otherwise common pattern design (Judd-208).(#11888) (PCGS# 11888)
