Near-Gem Judd-211, 1858 Centered Date Pattern Cent1858 P1C Indian Cent, Judd-211, Pollock-255, 262, R.4, PR64 PCGS. The obverse of this popular pattern displays James Longacre's Indian Head motif that appears on the production cent of 1859. The reverse, however, carries a thick oak wreath not unlike that which the Mint would mate with a shield for its 1860 cent production. Struck in copper-nickel with a plain edge. This piece was struck from the dies with the date centered, and as such is the more frequently encountered of the two date variants of this pattern. The light copper-nickel surfaces show a streaky overlay of reddish-brown patina on each side. Sharply, but not fully struck, with a few small specks of carbon on both obverse and reverse. (PCGS# 11893)
