'Perfect Ribbon' Judd-236 1859 Half Dollar Pattern, PR64 Brown

1859 P50C Half Dollar, Judd-236, Pollock-283, 285, R.5, PR64 Brown PCGS. The obverse has Paquet's design with a seated figure of Liberty facing to the left, a fasces supported by her right hand and a shield by her left hand. Around, 13 stars and below, the date. The reverse shows an eagle and shield with olive and arrows in the claws. The beak holds a ribbon inscribed E PLURIBUS UNUM. Around, the legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA with the denomination HALF DOLLAR below. Struck in copper with a reeded edge. This piece was struck from the "Perfect Ribbon" reverse that shows a full ribbon, pointed wingtips, and four vertical lines in the shield. The fields are nicely reflective and the surfaces overall are medium brown with underlying blue patina. An attractive copper pattern that shows only the slightest signs of contact.

Today I received the catalog which is a work of art unto itself. When I found my lot I was literally blown away by what Craig had done with the presentation....... quite amazing to say the least!
