One of several half dollar patterns from this year that feature the 'French Head of Liberty,' credited to Longacre. The reverse depicts the denomination as 1/2 DOLLAR, instead of HALF DOLLAR (Judd-237 and Judd-245), 50 CENTS (Judd-241), or HALF DOL. (Judd-243). Struck in silver with a reeded edge. The subdued surfaces are noticeably hairlined. (PCGS# 11972)
