Pattern 1859 Longacre Half Dollar, Judd-239, PR63 PCGS

1859 P50C Half Dollar, Judd-239, Pollock-295, R.5, PR63 PCGS. The Longacre design for the Half Dollar that features a bust of Liberty facing right, draped with a ribbon inscribed LIBERTY and a wide wreath of oak and vine on her head. The reverse depicts a cereal wreath within which is the denomination 1/2 DOLLAR. Struck in silver with a reeded edge. Both sides are bright, reflective, and untoned with the exception of streaks of pale tan tinting over the right obverse and in the reverse field before 1/2. Both sides are sharply struck with striations (as produced) in the fields. A pair of tiny spots toward the right obverse periphery and a reverse grease stain (as struck) over the second L in DOLLAR are noted.
