Attractive PR64 Brown 1863 Two Cent Pattern, Judd-3121863 2C Two Cents, Judd-312, Pollock-377, R.4, PR64 Brown PCGS. The obverse is similar to the regular issue obverse of 1864, with GOD OUR TRUST on the ribbon above the shield. The reverse shows the denomination 2 CENTS sharply curved in a wreath with the legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA around. Struck in bronze with a plain edge. These patterns were struck on multiple weight planchets that range from 76 grains to 101 grains. Fully struck in all areas, this piece shows even, deep brown patina over each side with faint glimmers of underlying mint red. An attractive, nearly carbon-free example of this popular two cent pattern.
