Description

Interesting 1864 With Motto Pattern Dollar
Judd-397, PR64 Brown

1864 $1 Dollar, Judd-397, Pollock-465, Low R.7, PR64 Brown PCGS. The obverse is the regular Seated Liberty design for 1864. The reverse is the With Motto Seated Liberty design introduced in 1866. Struck in copper with a reeded edge. Rich blue-green overtones are dominant, while the underlying olive-brown peeks through largely at the margins. Detail is crisp, and aside from a few stray hairlines, the preservation is excellent. A delicacy dating from approximately 1869 to sometime in the early 1870s, according to USPatterns.com, which was " ... offered with restrikes of the other denominations in complete sets." (NGC ID# 26VK, PCGS# 60568)
