Description:
1864 'Transitional' Pattern Half, Judd-392, PR66 Brown
1864 50C Half Dollar, Judd-392, Pollock-460, Low R.7, PR66 Brown PCGS. Struck from the regular obverse die, and paired with the regular reverse die of 1866 with the motto above the eagle. Struck in copper with a reeded edge. The Judd-392 is actually a restrike made circa 1869 and into the early 1870s, according to USPatterns.com, and was offered with restrikes of the other denominations in complete sets. This is a deeply mirrored example that appears pristine. Each side shows deeply mottled toning in shades of sea-green, blue, yellow, and rose. (PCGS# 60563)
