Copper Dies Trial 1865 Three Cent Nickel, PR65 Brown1865 3C Three Cent Nickel, Judd-413, Pollock-484, R.5, PR65 Brown PCGS. The three cent nickel was introduced in 1865, and although business strikes are common, the 1865 proof is very scarce. This regular dies trial piece shares the same obverse die as the proof 1865 three cent nickel, since the date exhibits similar broad recutting. Struck in copper with a plain edge. The flashy fields exhibit apple-green, dove-gray, and rose toning. (PCGS# 60594)
