Elusive 1866 Shield Nickel in Copper, Judd-502
1866 5C Shield Five Cents, Judd-502, Pollock-588, High R.7, PR65 Red and Brown PCGS. The regular dies obverse is utilized on this rare pattern, while the reverse features a tall, pointed 5 inside a laurel wreath and UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. Struck in copper with a plain edge. Boldly detailed with prominent center dot between the shield lines. Splendid, mellowed cherry-red color survives in the protected areas.
