Gem Cameo Judd-605 1868 Cent Pattern1868 1C One Cent, Judd-605, Pollock-670, R.5, PR65 Cameo PCGS. 1868 1C One Cent, Judd-605, Pollock-670, R.5, PR65 Cameo PCGS. Diminutive pattern cent with an obverse similar to the adopted three cent nickel design, and a reverse with a large Roman numeral I in the center surrounded by a wreath. Part of the 8 in the date is buried in Liberty's lowest curl. Struck in nickel with a plain edge. An extraordinarily well preserved example of this popular pattern. Even though there is a slightly granular texture on each side, this does not hinder the bright reflectivity seen in the fields. The devices are noticeably frosted and provide a strong cameo contrast. At first one perceives this piece to be brilliant, but close examination reveals the presence of light streaky gray patina over each side. (PCGS# 60817)
