Splendid 1869 Eagle Struck in Copper Judd-7811869 $10 Ten Dollar, Judd-781, Pollock-866, R.7, PR64 Red and Brown NGC. Struck with a reeded edge on regular issue dies, but on a copper planchet. Such pieces are referred to as dies trial pieces, however, in many cases they were made to be sold to advanced collectors of the day, or to augment the cabinets of highly placed mint officials. Swirling rose-brown and olive-gold colors enrich this magnificently struck near-Gem. No hairlines or contact is evident, a small spot above Liberty's jaw is of little concern.(#71013) (PCGS# 71013)
