Description:
Stunning 1869 Standard Silver
Quarter Pattern, Judd-727, PR65
1869 25C Standard Silver Quarter Dollar, Judd-727, Pollock-808, R.5, PR65 NGC.
Design.
On the obverse a right-facing Liberty wears a starless tiara. A headband behind bears the legend LIBERTY in raised letters. UNITED STATES OF AMERICA borders the upper periphery, with IN GOD WE TRUST on a curved ribbon below. The reverse shows STANDARD SILVER around the upper edge with 25 / CENTS in an open oak and laurel wreath. Struck in silver with a reeded edge.

Commentary.
Judd-727 is the most available of the six patterns struck from this die marriage, considered common by specialists. However, it is common only relative to other patterns and could be considered very scarce in general numismatic terms. The combined population of Judd-727 at NGC and PCGS is 67 pieces in all grades.

Physical Description.
Mind-boggling electric-blue patination dominates the reflective fields, with deeper gray toning seen elsewhere. A beautiful example in all regards. NGC Census: 10 in PR65, 7 finer. PCGS Population: 5 in PR65, 5 finer (12/08).

Provenance.
Ex: Stack's private treaty transaction.
From The Lemus Collection, Queller Family Collection Part Two.
(PCGS# 60954)
