Superb Proof 1869 Judd-756 Standard Silver Half Dollar, Struck in Copper1869 50C Standard Silver Half Dollar, Judd-756, Pollock-840, Low R.7, PR67 Red and Brown NGC. Standard Silver Design C: Liberty wears a headband inscribed LIBERTY with her hair tied in a bun as more fully described for Judd-708. Struck in copper with a reeded edge. This piece is either a double strike or an overstrike, as traces of stray lettering can be seen in the vicinity of ED ST on the obverse. It is also minutely out of round, suggested by a slight gap between the coin and the holder along the left side. Traces of original mint red remains visible on this Superb Gem proof, with pleasing lilac, blue, and iridescent toning on both sides.
