Attractive 1869 Judd-684 Five Cent Pattern1869 5C Coronet Five Cents, Judd-684, Pollock-763, R.5, PR64 NGC. On the obverse, Liberty is wearing a coronet inscribed LIBERTY. Around, the legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and below, the date. The reverse has a large V inside a laurel wreath with a ribbon inscribed IN GOD WE TRUST and a star above. Struck in nickel with a plain edge. This is a rather plentiful pattern variety that was issued as part of three-piece cents that also included a cent and a three cent piece. An attractive nickel-gray example, both sides exhibit lightly reflective surfaces with a trace of cameo contrast. A few minor blemishes include a small lamination defect on Liberty's jaw.
