Toned 1870 Standard Silver Half Dollar1870 50C Standard Silver Half Dollar, Judd-987, Pollock-1116, High R.6, PR62 PCGS. Standard Silver design with Liberty facing right wearing a headband with a star, a scroll below, and UNITED STATES OF AMERICA above. The reverse has 50 CENTS in the center and is surrounded by a wreath of oak and laurel with 1870 below and STANDARD SILVER above. This design is similar to that used in 1869. Probably fewer than a half dozen are known of this variant. Struck in silver with a reeded edge. Extensively hairlined, the surfaces have golden-brown and lilac toning interspersed over both sides.
