Only Five Pieces Known
1871 25C Quarter Dollar, Judd-1099, Pollock-1235, High R.7, PR66 PCGS. CAC. Ex: Samuel Berngard Collection. On the obverse, William Barber's Indian princess is seated facing left with the date 1871 below. She is wearing a headdress and supporting a Liberty pole with her right hand. Her left hand rests on a globe inscribed LIBERTY, and behind her are two flags. The reverse features the same design used to coin regular issue quarter dollars. Struck in silver with a reeded edge. Only five individual pieces are believed known of this pattern. This impressive example has rich shadings of rose-golden and blue with brightly reflective fields. Fully struck throughout.
