Description:
Outstanding 1871 Longacre-Designed Half
Judd-1111, PR65 Cameo
1871 50C Standard Silver Half, Judd-1111, Pollock-1247, Low R.7 PR65 Cameo PCGS. CAC. The obverse has Longacre's Indian Princess (second) design for the Seated Liberty motif with thirteen stars on the flag and thirteen stars around the periphery. The reverse has 50 CENTS in the center surrounded by a wreath of cotton and corn with STANDARD above. Struck in silver with a reeded edge. This is the most frequently available of the four Longacre designs of 1871, but it is still a Low R.7. The design is magnificent and the surfaces are well-preserved. The fields are deeply mirrored and the cameo effect is undeniable. Warm rose-golden toning covers most of the obverse, while the reverse has a hazy brilliance with just a tinge of light color. (PCGS# 61370)
