1872 Amazonian Double Eagle in Copper, Judd-12511872 $20 Amazonian Twenty Dollar, Judd-1251, Pollock-1393, R.6, PR58 PCGS. The famous "Amazonian" design by William Barber shows a bust of Liberty facing left on the obverse, surrounded by 13 stars, with the date below. The reverse has a defiant eagle with spread wings grasping a shield, around the margin is UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and TWENTY DOLLARS. Struck in copper with a reeded edge. The surfaces show very little evidence of friction and each side is deep brown with iridescent undertones. A very pleasing and more affordable example of this famous pattern design.
