Impressive Indian Princess Commercial Dollar, Judd-12161872 T$1 Commercial Dollar, Judd-1216, Pollock-1357, Low R.7, PR64 Brown NGC. William Barber's lower relief copy of James Longacre's famous Indian Princess design. Liberty is seated facing left, supporting a Liberty pole and a globe inscribed LIBERTY. Two flags are behind her, one of which exhibits 13 stars. Several of these stars are widely repunched. The reverse has UNITED STATES OF AMERICA above an olive wreath. GOD OUR TRUST is below the wreath on a scroll, and within the wreath are the legends COMMERCIAL/DOLLAR/420 GRs/900 FINE. Struck in copper with a reeded edge. About a half dozen of this pattern are believed known today in copper. The fields retain considerable flash from the proof finish, and for a Brown coin there is considerable underlying red luster still in evidence. A fully struck example of this magnificent design.
