William Barber's Trade Dollar Pattern of 1873, Judd-13221873 T$1 Trade Dollar, Judd-1322, Pollock-1465, R.4--Obverse Scratched, Improperly Cleaned--Proof NCS. The obverse is very similar to the adopted design, but with a longer base. The reverse shows a small eagle with spread wings and billowing scroll in its beak. Struck in silver with a reeded edge. Examples of this pattern were included in the six-piece sets distributed by the Mint. Two short, parallel scratches extend from the rocky base to the denticles below, and each side is noticeably hairlined. Mostly brilliant, there are couple of dabs of light golden toning on both obverse and reverse.
