Superb Gem 1875 Twenty Cent Pattern, Judd-14111875 20C Twenty Cents, Judd-1411, Pollock-1554, Low R.7, PR67 NGC. At first glance, this appears to be a typical proof 1875 twenty cent piece. But this is a pattern, with minor differences from the regular issue. For example, LIBERTY is incused, similar to other Seated denominations, instead of raised as on the regular issue twenty cent piece. The lowest leaf points to the wingtip instead of the S in CENTS. Struck in silver with a reeded edge. The devices are nicely frosted, and although the piece is undesignated as such, cameo contrast is evident despite light tan-gold toning. A minute spot is concealed on the left border of the eagle's breast. A wonderful adjunct to a proof set of twenty cent pieces.
