Description:
Gem 1877 Sailor Head Dime Judd-1498
1877 10C Sailor Head Ten Cents, Judd-1498, Pollock-1651, Low R.7, PR65 Brown Cameo NGC. The obverse portrait, designed by William Barber, is similar to the "Sailor Head" design made famous two years earlier, but with smaller lettering on the coronet and lacking the so-called sailor collar. The reverse uses the regular issue dies. The coin is technically illegal in that UNITED STATES OF AMERICA does not appear on either side. Struck in copper with a reeded edge. This boldly struck Gem displays lovely golden-brown and ocean-blue hues. A pair of tiny ticks above the E in ONE provide pedigree markers. A noteworthy example of this desirable pattern issue. NGC has certified three Judd-1498 patterns, the present piece is the highest graded, the other two are reported as PR63 Red and PR64 Brown.(#61833) (PCGS# 61833)

What I most appreciated was how thorough you were when we initially met, how you were conservative in your estimates, not trying to get me to consign by giving false expectations, and then for delivering above and beyond on your commitment to me of a wonderful marketing campaign and a first rate catalog and photos, all of which resulted in a final total price realized that was nicely higher than what you had told me to expect.
