1879 $1 Goloid Metric Dollar, Judd-1626, Pollock-1822, R.6(...
1879 $1 Goloid Metric Dollar, Judd-1626, Pollock-1822, R.6(?), PR62 PCGS. William Barber's design for the Goloid Metric Dollar with a large head of Liberty on the obverse, paired with a reverse that carries numerous statutory as well as elemental inscriptions. A circle of stars about the central inscriptions breaks the otherwise continuous wording. Struck in goloid (5.46% gold, 84.54% silver, 10.00% copper) with a reeded edge. Brilliant throughout with deeply reflective fields and light frost present on the devices. The obverse has light milky brown patina, while the reverse has vivid violet, powder-gray, and tan-brown patina. From a good strike, with a lintmark in the upper right reverse. The right reverse field has a series of short circular scratches that account for the grade. (PCGS# 62004)
