Superb, Full Red 1879 Morgan Dollar Pattern, Judd-16121879 $1 Morgan Dollar, Judd-1612, Pollock-1808, R.6, PR67 Red NGC. Ex: Genaitis. A pattern Morgan dollar, showing the adopted obverse with a reverse that displays a broad and imposing "shield type" eagle with spread wings. According to the USPatterns.com website, "This design by Morgan is another attempt to replace the production design whose eagle was described as scrawny among other things." Struck in copper with a reeded edge. A pristine, full red pattern dollar and extremely rare as such. The surfaces show even, cherry-red color over both sides with occasional flashes of lime-green here and there. Deeply mirrored and obviously problem-free, a pattern of unsurpassable quality.
