Desirable 1879 Washlady Dime Pattern, Judd-15841879 10C Washlady Ten Cents, Judd-1584, Pollock-1777, R.6, PR62 PCGS. Barber's famous "Washlady" design, a term that has been used to describe the liberally-locked portrait since the nineteenth century. The head of Liberty faces left surrounded by the legend and the date is situated below. She is wearing a headband inscribed LIBERTY. The headband is ornamented with ears of wheat, cotton leaves, and bolls. On the reverse, the denomination is encircled by a ring of dots that is flanked by the ornamentally framed motto E PLURIBUS UNUM and a wreath of cotton and wheat. Struck in silver with a reeded edge. The lilac, olive, and sea-green patina is attractive. The cheek has a horizontal pinscratch, and the strike is not fully brought up, but this piece is otherwise impressive. Population: 1 in 62, 8 finer (10/03).(#61961) (PCGS# 61961)
