1880 Metric Dollar Pattern in Copper, Judd-16491880 $1 Metric Dollar, Judd-1649, Pollock-1849, R.7--Environmental Damage--Proof NCS. Metric dollar pattern designed by George Morgan, featuring a bland, rarely seen head of Liberty brushed back and fastened in a bun and with a wide ribbon at the top of the head. The reverse is the standard Metric dollar design with DEO EST GLORIA featured prominently above the composition in the center. Struck in copper with a reeded edge. The surfaces show evidence of hairlining but each side is now covered with even brown, lime-green, and lilac patina, which subdues the effects of the cleaning from years ago. Numerous small carbon spots are scattered above Liberty's head, constituting the environmental damage mentioned on the NCS insert.
